5 Ways to Refresh Your Outdoor Patio this Summer
One of my favorite things about the rising temperatures is spending more time outdoors. It’s no secret vitamin D is good for the body (and soul), but so is wanting to be outside and enjoying the space you’re in. So whether you’re catching rays in a backyard, or perhaps the balcony of your apartment, here’s 5 tips to refresh your outdoor patio this summer.
Make/Keep It Clean
This isn’t necessarily the funnest part, but having a clean slate will make adding all the “extras” more enjoyable. And what I mean by this is, before you can start decorating, make sure the surfaces are clean from dirt and grime. Sweep, powerwash, leaf blow, wipe down… simply get your patio ready for the season. The cleaner the space, the more you’ll actually want to be out there!
Furnish for Reality
Buy outdoor furniture you’ll actually use. If you aren’t into hosting, maybe you skip out on a dining set and go for a comfy couch or a reading nook. If dinner parties are your jam, then opt for a table and chairs and leave the lounge furniture at the store. There’s no sense in burning a hole in your wallet for pieces you won’t get any use out of.
Add Greenery
Adding greenery is an easy way to create a welcoming, calm space. Whether you decide to start an herb garden or snag a faux plant from Target, both options will liven up your patio!
Incorporate Pops of Color
I’m typically a neutral girly, but something about being outside specifically makes me want all the colors! The easiest way to incorporate pops of color? Try to have fun throw pillows, fresh flowers, flower/plant pots, or lanterns.
Ambience
For me, the ambience of any space is what either strays me away or keeps me coming back for more. Besides all of the tangible items around you, what does your space feel like? If I’m spending time outside, I love having a jazzy playlist playing in the background. And when the sun goes down, tea lights hanging from above are so magical. These are easy add-ons that create a warming atmosphere!
