7 Major Skirt Trends You Need To Wear This Fall
*last updated - October 30th, 2024
If you had the chance to take a look at Excluded Fashion’s 2023 inclusive fashion trends report, you know that skirts are IN for 2023. And since you’ve probably been rocking them all summer, you may not want to let go of your skirts so quickly.
One thing we can be excited about is the way that skirts can transition throughout the seasons. If you’re in a warmer climate, you can rock them longer. If you’re in a colder climate, throw tights and a coat on to give your look more longevity.
However, if you’re browsing your closet or doing some shopping for this coming season, these are the 7 major skirt trends you need to wear this fall!
Maxi SKirt
Yes, I know we’ve been seeing it everywhere but for good reason! Maxi skirts are one of my favorite pieces to invest in as they can easily transition you from season to season. If you’re a fan of the 90s minimalism trend that is in this year, then these are for you.
Tennis Skirts
Tennis skirts are the best way to step off of the court and into a fashionable Sunday afternoon lunch. If you and your besties have caught onto the pickleball craze then you may have already invested in a few of these. But just know for casual fall trends, throw a tank and a sweater over your shoulders alongside your tennis skirt and you’ll be set for a casual day out in the city!
High Slit Skirts
A surprising edition we plan to see this fall is high-slit skirts! Another great transition from summer to fall can come in the form of a high-slit skirt. Enjoy a little breeze in the summer and extra length in the fall to give your outfit a little sex appeal this season.
Reconstructed denim Skirt
Another trend that has seemed to hold true for the year is seeing denim come to life in a whole new way! Between constructing multiple denim fabrics and colors and adding a cargo pocket, denim reimagined is here to stay!
Cargo Skirts
Speaking of cargos… we’re keeping these around for just a bit longer! Cargo pants were all the rage last year, however, we’ve been seeing a shift to cargo skirts happen slowly throughout the year. So prepare for fall early and invest in a new cargo skirt to transition you from summer to fall.
Bubblehem
I’m such a fan of something fresh and new on the scene and something we haven’t seen in a long time bubble up into the fashion scene is bubble hems! Jump on these quickly because you’ll definitely be seeing them pop up on red carpets soon, so you can be the first to get on the trend before it hits the streetwear scene.
Low-rise SKIRTS
Another trend from the year holding strong is low rise anything! I like to mix my low-rise trends with maxi skirts or even cargos for an edgy street-style look. But if you’re worried about adding these to your wardrobe, no need to panic! I picked out the most flattering styles for us mid-size/plus-size girlies.
