Burgundy Is The Moment: Here’s How to Rock The Rich Girl Color That’s Everywhere Right Now

Ok, I know ALL of you have seen what Zendaya was wearing in “that” video. And let me just be the one to say… perfection!

If you need more convincing that burgundy is the color of this season, here it is.

Burgundy has been seen everywhere so far on the fashion streets and for great reason. While burgundy / maroon / wine / oxblood (whatever you want to call it!) hasn’t been center stage in a while, it’s still an incredibly classic color to keep in your wardrobe.

This rich, deep hue, reminiscent of autumn leaves and decadent wines, has emerged as the ultimate “it” color for the season. Whether gracing the runways of high fashion or taking over our favorite stores, burgundy is everywhere, and it’s not just for special occasions.

There are a ton of reasons why investing in the color burgundy in your wardrobe is worth the price, including:

  • Having a new darker-toned color as a base in your closet as a mix-up from black

  • Burgundy fashion surprisingly goes with a lot of other colors. A few classic color combos you can make for a burgundy outfit (burgundy and navy blue outfit, grey sweater burgundy pants, brown and maroon outfit just to name a few) provide an incredibly fun mix-up to your everyday wardrobe

  • Burgundy is a perfect color for virtually every skin tone and flattering on all body shapes. With the variety of different shades of burgundy there are (like what I mentioned in the above paragraph) nearly everyone looks fantastic in the color!

But where do you start with adding burgundy to your wardrobe?

As a first start, I always recommend an accessory to start a wardrobe update. That way you can put it with what you already have and decide if you truly enjoy the color. And if you don’t, no worries! You didn’t break the bank either and can probably return relatively easily.

Next, if you decide you like it, invest in a solid statement wardrobe item that you can style multiple things around. Whether a dress, skirt, statement top, etc. Take a look at your wardrobe, see what you’re in need of and go from there.

Lastly, if you really like the piece, see if you can make 5 different outfits using that statement piece from your existing wardrobe. If you can, you’re set! If you can’t, it may not be for you. Now if you’re at the point where you can’t and you’re eyeing other pieces you want, check out your budget and if you want to spend the money, go for it! However, if you still can’t make 5 outfits, either assess your budget to see if you really want to build out the color, but if you can’t, stick with what you’ve got.

When adding a new color to your wardrobe, it’s always best to test it out for a season to see if it fits you and your personal style, because you still want to wear these pieces year after year. Unless you’re someone who wants to follow the trends year after year, this is the best way to go about it. That way if you stil like the color for additional seasons, you can gradually build up your wardrobe rather than investing a ton of money in a color up front that you may not continue wearing.

So what do you think? Will you be trying out burgundy this season? If so, let us know on Instagram!
