Everyone on TikTok is Obsessed With the Old Money Aesthetic - Here's How to Wear It For Summer
Don’t worry… old money doesn’t mean LOOKING old. It really is a code word that means “classy”.
The old money fashion trend has completely taken off on tik tok seemingly starting with Sophia Richie’s wedding this summer, however, it’s been creeping in here and there for a while.
There’s been a huge debate happening on social media over trying to keep up with the latest fashion trends. While it was the norm for many of us TikTok enthusiasts to want to refresh our wardrobes every 2 weeks because of what the latest influencer is wearing, the issue of sustainability has come into question with this practice.
To keep up with many of the trends, we often have to turn to fast-fashion retailers that may not have the best practices. At the same time, we’re recycling through our wardrobes faster than ever before, further polluting our environment with our wear one and toss items that can’t be donated or resold because of such poor quality.
Here’s where I think the old money trend has taken off because of our trend and buying fatigue. The old-money fashion trend consists of only a few principles to follow:
Investing in quality classic fashion pieces you can re-wear multiple times
Mix and match similar neutral and basics to create a look
Minimal and timeless accessories
That’s really it! So the old money trend isn’t really that hard to achieve, and if you do it right, the pieces will transition you from season to season without having to break the bank too often, or at all!
