Maternity Basics: How to Build a Stylish and Affordable Capsule Maternity Wardrobe

I have many amazing memories of my pregnancies, but I also have vivid memories of creating massive to-do lists that needed to be done before baby’s big arrival. And if you’re like me, finding maternity clothes usually ends up at the bottom of those lists. Why would I need to buy clothes I will only wear for nine months? But, I’ve found that I feel happier and more put together when I have outfits I love wearing and feel comfortable in. So, I’ve put together a list of great basics that will help you feel your best for the next nine months.

A capsule wardrobe is the best way I found to create great outfits while also not overspending. Curating a capsule maternity wardrobe can be easy to do. Focus on classic styles and neutral tones. Also, be sure to include pieces that can be easily layered as the seasons change. Start with a pair of versatile pants, then add a supportive maternity tank as a base. Layer on a classic button-up top or cozy sweater for a laid-back look.

It would also be beneficial to invest in pieces that you can wear after baby is here. Let’s be honest you won’t fit into your pre-baby jeans right away! A loose button-down is ideal for breastfeeding and can be a chic option during and after pregnancy. A trendy jumpsuit is also a great go-to for an easy cohesive outfit. Just add your favorite sneakers and a comfy tee underneath. Read on below for other easy-to-wear maternity pieces.
